Important Information

N.B. What you may think of as wild Highland Cows are farm-owned animals and are not free-roaming pets.

Please do not get too near to them or allow your dogs to get close to the cows as accidents could occur.

Advice for Dog Owners around cattle:

Always walk calmly, with your dog at a safe distance and on a short lead around livestock. The only exception is if you are being chased, or charged at, then let the dog off the lead. It's usually the dog they see as a threat rather than you and most dogs can easily outrun a cow but the majority of us humans cannot!

Please remember to bring poo bags and clean up after your dog.

Dog faeces can cause serious diseases and even miscarriage in livestock through the contamination of grass and water. Dog waste on grazing land can pass worms and parasites to other dogs, cattle and wildlife, so it is just as vital to clear up after your dog in the countryside as it is in the town.

Meet The Moos

Highland Cows of the Peak

are extremely pleased to introduce the Meet the Moos Workshop for 2024.

Saturday 20th July

Sunday 21st July

10.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m. (Around 2 hours)

£50 per person (max 8 per session).

The ultimate highland cow experience, where you'll meet and photograph a glorious fold in Sheffield, South Yorkshire on the edge of the Peak District.

We start with an introduction talk, where you'll learn about the history of the farm, followed by a safety briefing.

Then you will get to meet and groom our young coos. You will learn all about your new furry friends, combing their hair, getting to know their different personalities and of course getting plenty of photos.

Then hop onto our weather-proof passenger trailer and enjoy a tractor ride into the fields where our fold of Highland cows graze all year round. From the trailer you’ll be able to get plenty of photos and content for the grid as well as asking the farmer all about our pedigree cattle.

Paul, from Great Lux Photography, will be on hand to advise you with some photography tuition to help you get the best highland cow photos with your camera or mobile. He will also happily take a photo of you with one of the cows so you can share the experience on your socials.

Welcome to 2018

This is the year that I have taken up Landscape photography, sure I've captured images of Landscapes previously but never understood why my images were lacking that wow factor.

In just a few months I have visited many places in the Peak District National Park and took what I believe to be some great photos, sure there have been some terrible ones too but if you don't try you don't succeed. I look forward to my collection of images growing along with my skills and hope you all enjoy the journey with me.
